1. Why there is no cookie banner

Under the ePrivacy rules, consent is needed to store anything on your device that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. We store nothing else. We run no advertising cookies, no social pixels, and no analytics cookies, so there is nothing to ask you to agree to — and a banner that asked anyway would be theatre.

If that ever changes, the banner appears before the cookie does, and refusing will be exactly as easy as accepting.

2. The cookies we do set

Sign-in cookies (__session, __client_uat and related), set by Clerk. These keep you signed in and protect the session against forgery. They exist only once you sign in, last for the session or up to seven days, and are strictly necessary. Without them an account cannot work at all.

Nothing else. No cookie on this site follows you to another site, and none is used to build a profile of you.

3. Measurement without cookies

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure how fast pages load. Both are cookie-free by design: they set no identifier on your device and do not track you between visits or across sites. We see totals, not people.

4. Cookies we cannot see

Product listings show the seller’s own icon, fetched from a third-party icon service so that we do not have to embed a tracker to get it. When you follow a link to a seller’s site you leave Markoten, and whatever that site stores is covered by their policy, not ours.

5. Controlling them

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking the sign-in cookies will stop you being able to sign in, which is the only thing they do. Browsing, searching and comparing all work with cookies switched off entirely.
